Firefighters visit schools and day care facilities within the Clark County
service area to teach children about fire safety. Presentations target specific
age groups. All age groups are taught the dangers of playing with fire, what to
do in case of a fire, and the importance of smoke detectors.
The presentation for younger children focuses on teaching them that
firefighters are their friends, not to play with matches and lighters, and how
to safely exit the home in case of fire. Children explore a fire engine
and try on a bunker (firefighting) gear.
