Wren didn't wear a uniform or a Glock, but she was a fully certified police officer with a super-sensitive snout that could smell trouble. She joined the CCFD in June 2000, shortly after her predecessor, Josie, retired from the service. Wren, just like Josie was a dropout from a Guide Dog school and just like Josie found her true calling, accelerant detection, when she was adopted by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms.

After completing her training with ATF, she was introduced to her human partner, a Clark County Fire Department Investigator, Mark Passalacqua. Mark and Wren spent an additional eight weeks training and bonding at the ATF headquarters in Virginia before returning to Las Vegas.

After joining CCFD, Wren became the only accelerant detecting K-9 in Nevada. Her unique skills and qualifications, wonderful personality, and yes -- unparallel beauty made Wren a true celebrity in the area.

She assisted with fire investigations not only in the State of Nevada but also throughout the United States. She was a member of the National Response Team and participated in numerous out-of-state responses.

Wren retired in April 2007. The Clark County Fire Department does not have an Arson Dog at this time.
