Individuals interested in becoming a Firefighter are encouraged to apply online at WWW.CLARKCOUNTYNV.GOV. For additional information contact the Clark County Human Resources office at (702) 455-4565 or the "Firefighter Recruitment Hotline" at 455-CCFD (455-2233).

The minimum requirements to apply for the position of Firefighter are listed below. Once your application has been reviewed, Human Resources will provide notification by letter or e-mail that you have been invited to participate in the written test.

Competition for firefighter openings is extremely competitive so preparation is crucial!


  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Must possess a valid "Class C" Nevada driver’s license at time of appointment, including the first day of rookie school.
  • Vision must be correctable and within the guidelines specified in order to hold a current Nevada Driver's License.
  • Height in proportion to weight.
  • Physically and mentally fit to perform vigorous basic skill requirements.

  • Written examination
  • Physical ability test (CPAT)
  • Oral Board Interview
  • Medical Exam
  • Background check
  • Suitability Exam

  • Candidates must be in excellent physical condition.
  • Employment is contingent upon the results of a background investigation.
  • Employment is contingent upon the results of a physical examination, to include a pulmonary test, and a psychological evaluation performed by our examining physician.
  • Employment is contingent upon the results of a pre-employment drug test.
  • It is a condition of employment that any fire service employee hired into the Fire Department after January 1, 1993, not use tobacco in any form.
